ALLARDYCE BACKS RVP
The West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce is of the opinion that the star striker Robin van Persie could prove to be the difference between Manchester United winning the title and losing it.
The club signed the former Arsenal man for £ 24 million in the summer, which has been questioned by a lot of people. Many think that Manchester United are in desperate need of a strong midfielder and not a good quality striker. However, Robin van Persie has been able to secure 12 goals in all competitions for the club, which have been extremely important.
A recent statistic revealed that Manchester United will be in the mid-table had it not been for the goals from the Dutchman. He once again scored the only goal for Manchester United in the 1-0 win over West Ham. He scored the goal after just 32 seconds, which made it the fastest goal scored by any player this season. Allardyce has said that he will be taking a lot of positives from this match, despite the match ending as a 1-0 defeat for the Londoners. Given that they were coming into the match without their star midfielder Mark Noble, it was a good performance according to Allardyce.
"Manchester United have lots of players who will have good spells and can come up trumps when they need them to. Robin van Persie is a quality player and we have largely kept him quiet. But he will score 20 goals for Manchester United, maybe 30. In the end that is normally the difference. It is a big problem to concede after 30 seconds. But our response was very good. We didn't create much but we went looking for the equaliser," said Allardyce. West Ham will be facing the London derby against Chelsea during the weekend.
