West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed to the media that the club will not be looking to sign Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov or Liverpool striker Andy Carroll in the summer transfer window. West Ham United have been linked with a move for these players after they have been frozen out in their respective clubs.
Sam Allardyce has a history of getting the best out of underperforming players. He recently helped West Ham get back into the Premier league through the play-offs. He has already made some key signings in the summer transfer window, but has ruled out any potential move for Andy Carroll and Dimitar Berbatov.
The 31-year-old Dimitar Berbatov is out of contract at the end of the season, while Andy Carroll has been a huge disappointment at Anfield since his £ 35 million move from Newcastle more than a year ago. It is thought that West Ham were interested in taking the former Newcastle United striker on a loan deal till the end of the season, with a view of making it permanent if West Ham survived this season. Sam Allardyce knows that getting promotion is the easiest part because staying in the Premier league is very difficult.
“I think that we’re not in a situation where we can secure a deal with Andy or Liverpool at the moment. We talked to them, we had some negotiation. But at the moment there is nothing progressing forward on Andy coming to West Ham. Andy is yet to make his mind up where his future lies and the negotiation with Liverpool hasn’t been a situation where we’ve been able to agree. We’ll just leave it as it is and move on with other players, as we have been doing on a daily basis through the summer,” said Allardyce.
