Goals from Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany were enough for Manchester City to defeat West Bromwich Albion as they claimed a 3-0 triumph in the opening match day of this new Premier League season.

Manchester City dominated the match from start till the very end as they had 69% of possession and launched a total of 19 shots meanwhile West Bromwich Albion could only muster 9 shots.

Even though the visiting team had such a controlling game and was the favorites of winning this match, Tony Pullis believes that this defeat is not due to his players as the 57 year old Welsh coach took the blame for the loss.

Tony Pullis of West Bromwich Albion told reporters: “I take responsibility for the way we set up. The fact we had Saido and Rickie up front together pulled us away from what we should do. I said to them afterwards I’d take responsibility. There are certain principles we have to stick by and work with to get results at this level and I went away from that. We created quite a few chances but we were far too loose as a team.”

The coach of West Bromwich Albion, Tony Pullis continued on by saying that Manchester City was the better team and one of the main reasons of why his team performed so underwhelming was due to the way that he set up his team which allowed the opposition of taking advantage of certain aspects in the pitch.

If Pullis was given the chance to change his formation and position of a few of his players, the experienced manager stated that he would of done a number of changes but nothing can be done and all that is left for him to start collecting points in the upcoming matches and this is what the Welsh coach wants to do as Puliis is hoping that he can avoid seeing his being positioned in the bottom spots of the Premier League.
