ALLARDYCE PRAISES CHARACTER

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has said that the 2-1 victory over Millwall during the weekend was enough to prove the character within the West Ham United dressing room.

The local derby between the two clubs was expected to be a tight encounter and it turned out to be one. West Ham United took the lead in the first half through Carlton Cole.

The England striker scored in the injury time of the first half to give West Ham the advantage going into the second half. However, it was an advantage that was not meant to last long, as Millwall quickly came back into the match through a goal from Trotter in the 66th minute.

West Ham United were coming into the match with a really the three points in order to assert their position at the top of the table. A number of teams at the top of the Championship are really struggling to assert their authority, and Sam Allardyce was speaking about the need for three points in order to build some advantage over the other teams like Southampton and Cardiff City.

West Ham United got exactly what their manager was looking for after Reid put West Ham United on the front foot in a matter of few minutes. The 69th minute goal was enough to give all three points for West Ham. The win leaves them amongst the favourites, according to the Championship odds online.

“To do it with 10 men just shows that everyone who had doubts about the character of the team are wrong because it is there in abundance. You can’t teach players that. It comes from building team spirit and every body pulling in the same direction. To deliver that performance shows with have an abundance of character,” West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce said after the match.
