Troubled playmaker Dimitri Payet could leave West Ham this term, according to reports.
The France international seems frustrated with the form of the club. The external influences are not helping him in anyway.
Sky Sports pundit and former player Tony Cottee opines that the former Marseille player wants to leave, particularly with the situation at the club. Payet was one of Premier League best entrants last year due to his sensational debut campaign. He moved to the club for 10.75 million Pounds during last two summers. His spectacular display helped the Hammers finish in the top seven, getting a Europa League qualification in the process.
This term the 29-year old has struggled to relive last season’s brilliance. Payet scored 12 crucial goals in 38 games in the last campaign but has not been as good this season despite a decent showing for his national team side at Euro 2016.
West Ham are now far away from the relegation zone, sitting in the 13th position but the team is yet to gel.
“If you look at the charts for chances created, I think he’s still top of that. He’s still creating the chances, but he hasn’t been as good as last season. I look at Dimitri, but he looks like a player who knows he’s a top player.
“He had a fantastic summer for France and a wonderful first season for the club. West Ham has struggled, and he’ll get more and more frustrated unless they start to win games,” Cottee said of West Ham and Payet to Premier League Daily.
“Dimitri will sadly leave the club,” he added, giving this January window or the forthcoming summer as the likely time of departure even though the club would be happy to retain him for a few more years at least.
