WEST HAM LOSE GROUND

West Ham United lost more ground in the race for finishing top of the Championship after they could only manage a draw against rivals Doncaster.

All the top teams in the Championship have been suffering a poor form of late, which has allowed teams from the play-offs position to catch them.

Reading have been one of the most impressive of the teams in the play-offs position, as they have managed five victories on the bounce. They are now level on points with West Ham United after Sam Allardyce’s men could only draw against Doncaster Rovers during the weekend.

West Ham United took the lead through a goal from Kevin Nolan within the first 10 min of the match. However, they could not assert their authority in the match following the goal after the team relaxed a little bit. Even though it did not immediately allow Doncaster Rovers to get back into the match, it provided them with plenty of confidence that they could return home with something from the match.

It proved to be exactly the case after Coppinger scored in the 73rd minute to give Doncaster Rovers something to cheer about. West Ham United tried everything in the final few minutes of the match, but could not win the match.

“We just didn’t finish them off when we had the chances early on and that has cost us. Vaz Te has scored in the first minute and I’m not sure what was wrong with it and then maybe we should have had a penalty with the handball so decisions haven’t gone for us in this game. We are not going to panic but you would always like to win your home games. The Southampton draw felt like a win but the three draws have been disappointing,” Allardyce said after the match.
