West Ham United, also known as the Irons, are currently flying high in the 2015/2016 EPL season—all thanks to some rejuvenation and shrewd business made in the last transfer window. The club did not only change its entire management team during the last window; it also brought in some great players.
Currently fighting for a place in next season’s Champions League campaign; West Ham United will for a very long time remember the current season as one of its best in the EPL era.
Founded in 1900, the club has developed into one of the most respected teams in London. As part of efforts to take the club, which he took over as chairman a couple of years ago, David Sullivan (51.1%) as well as David Gold (35.1%) will oversee the Irons’ movement to the Olympic Stadium where it has been granted leasing right to play its home matches from next season.
Currently under the watchful eyes of Slaven Bilic, West Ham United remain a force to be reckoned with this current season. Last summer, Bilic brought in a couple of high profile players, which include the highly skilful Dimitri Payet, Reece Oxford, and Victor Moses (on loan from Chelsea).
The club was relegated in 2011 after losing to Wigan in a match in which they were ahead by 0-2 at the D.W Stadium. Their inability to hold on to that comfortable lead saw them sent packing from the EPL after Wigan drew level and went ahead to score an 87th minute winner.
In the 2014/2015 season, the Irons were automatically given a spot in the UEFA/EUROPA League for reasons bothering on fair play.
This season (2015/2016), the Irons have inflicted harsh defeats on teams like Arsenal at the Emirates, Liverpool at Anfield, and Spurs. Currently fighting for a top four spot in the EPL; West Ham’s famous claret and sky blue could be flying high in Europe next season if they are able to maintain their current form.
